Aeropines - Tomcat Course. This is the original course at NAS Oceana. Let's start with the positive. The greens were superb! Wish my home course had greens as nice as this, they rolled pure. This course use to be a very nice course, but obviously outside the greens, the maintenance has been virtually non-existent which was very disappointing. MWR has let everyone down turning a once nice course into a practice facility at best that charges top price that would be associated with a wonderful facility. All bunkers have been decidedly allowed to fallow. If you are not going to maintain the bunkers seed them, allow them to grow and fill-in and treat them as rough, but don't just allow them to garner weeds. Waste areas they aren't. The rough is not graduated in anyway, you go from the fairway to 2" bermuda rough making it overly difficult to locate your ball as they obviously sink to the bottom. You can walk by it multiple times and you may find it. The bridge to the right of the 3rd green has been in disrepair for so long that the barricades have even fallen over. The "junk" between the tee box and the fairway on 18 was so high that you couldn't see the sight lines, talk about a blind tee shot! It pains me to say this because this was a to be a nostalgic round from years gone by, but...if you want to play a military course while in the VA Beach area, go to Little Creek NAB or Sewell's Point. I miss the old Aeropines.

Tomcat course is in rough shape. Rough is mostly weeds, fairway, couple greens are dying.

Always a good round at aeropines. Just wish they paid a little more attention to the tomcat course. Always seems to need a trim.
