I wish there was a 3 1/2 star rating option. Texarkana Golf Ranch is #24 on a top 50 list put out by Dallas News if public courses to play in Texas. In my humble opinion that is TOO high. What this course has going for it is the scenic location. Tree lined fairways and built around a lake. I counted 20 courses in the list that I've played that are in much better OVERALL condition. Driving range was adequate as well as practice putting green. What this place lacks is a consistency of cart paths. 80% of the time your driving on dirt paths with tree roots sticking out and bumping all over the place. Tee Boxes need mowing bad. Lots of drop offs around paths and fairways to twist an ankle or fall. And sandtraps were playable, some were just mud. I won't critique the greens caused they were just punched earlier in the week. Friendly staff at check-in, small snack bar and pro shop. Would I play here again? Yes. Would I recommend the course to others? Yes. I was just disappointed in the overall experience of the course. Scenery is awesome but over presentation was average for a top 25 on this Dallas News list
