I played this course with three colleagues while we were down in SSI for a conference. Short of 4 pretty cool holes on the back 9 that play along the marsh, this course was extremely disappointing. When we arrived at 7:30AM on a Thursday morning for our tee time, the range was 'closed' because they were mowing it. I'm sorry, but when you have paying customers who want to hit a few balls before their $125.00 round, you STOP mowing and let them warm up. The greens had also been aerated (no disclaimer was provided when booking the tee time), and some sort of fertilizer had recently been applied that turned balls, towels, hands, and clothing a nasty shade of turquoise (it took two days to wash off my hands). I get that these are things that have to be done to maintain the course, but when no warning is given at the time of booking and no discount is offered to compensate for the inconvenience, the least you could do is apologize. No such luck here. I guess you can get away with this type of arrogance when you're one of the few public tracks in the area. Needless to say, I won't be returning here. Also, we drove 30 minutes down to Jekyll to play one of the courses there the following day. It was half the price, and a MUCH better experience.
