Pack saddle is a must play golf course! If you live locally or are in from out of town, no other course can offer the amazing views or uniqueness of this course. From over the water or over the gorge to down and up hill Par 5s , there are special holes for every lover of the game. Thanks to the management for caring so much on how its ran!

A course with extremely beautiful views. Course is tough and demanding. Rough was quite high. Course had just opened 3 days earlier, so I'm sure with a little attention it can be a top notch course. Staff was great. I recommend you put on your list to play!!!

Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club (privately owned, open to the public) is a beautiful and challenging course. There are water hazards, bunkers, trees and slopes. The views on the back 9 are distracting as well as challenging due to how beautiful the views. Be sure to stop and take a breath before finishing your round. No matter your score, you will want to come back again and again.

Packsaddle offers some of the most scenic golf near Harrisonburg, especially the back 9 with its sweeping mountain vistas where you can see for miles. I have gotten discounts in the past for being a JMU student which is always nice, and the course usually is not nearly as crowded as others can be in the area so it is nice to get away from it all and play some mountain golf!

Good course, great views. Traps are in rough condition. Tee's decent and fairways and greens nice. Rough is jail, imperative to hit fairways

Great course with awesome views. Plenty of wildlife. Rates are cheap, and should be on your list to play

First, the staff where extremely pleasant and helpful. This course layout is a true test of golf, its tight, hilly, and wayward shots are quite often punished. I like the layout. Unfortunately, over the last years the condition of the course continues to degrade. The tee boxes were crab grass, in many cases with only one tee marker. The greens had many dead areas, where the pins were positioned, on good grass, the greens were extremely slow. Bunkers had minimal sand and, in some cases, just weeds. Many had been raked. The fringes of the greens varied from nice grass to weeds. The fairways were OK, the rough a little high but mowed. The clubhouse was nice as always. A great layout, with great views, but given the condition of the last couple years, that was my last round there. The owners need to either invest the money necessary to bring the course back to a reasonable condition, or just close it.

We always play at least twice a year here just because of the variety of holes and the difference from every other 'mountain' course. As the crow flies, I live less than three miles from this course, but it takes 20 minutes because it's really, really off the beaten path. Not a trip for the feint of heart or those who lack the spirit of adventurism. Unfortunately, they have a bunch of clowns--and I am trying to be nice here--working the desk and grill.

Beautiful and challenging tract for all skill levels. Even in drought conditions the course is playing well. The Staff was great.

Hidden gem, but the greens and tee boxes need work. Lots of nats and bugs.

Nice golf course in scenic area, but a little remote. Fairways were okay, but rough was VERY rough, hard to even find your ball just off the fairway. Greens were nice.

There are very few courses in Virginia that have comparable views. None of them have comparable value. The natural beauty is spectacular. The backdrop is the Blue Ridge mountains. The Shenandoah Valley is visible for miles. The course layout is fair and fun to play. Every hole is unique. The greens are interesting and very challenging. Try to stay below the hole. The course condition is impressive. The staff provides thoughtful, helpful service in a very low-key manner. If you have the time you will enjoy the views from the clubhouse as you re-hydrate!

Beautiful setting but not kept well, won't be there long if management doesn't put effort and money back into it.

Played there for the first time this week. Absolutely beautiful. The views are stunning. I made some mistakes on some teeshots but now I know where to hit. Going back to Massanutten in 3 weeks and look forward to playing here a couple more times. If you get a chance to play here you will definitely enjoy it.

Great place to golf. Every time we are in town for Massanutten resort we take a day and go here. Last time we were coming from Myrtle Beach we stopped for the night here and the course was delayed due to frost, but there will always be next time. Will definitely play again. Love their golf tees. They seem to last forever.

Failed to tell that the greens were being aerated when setting up a tee time on the phone. He just offered a slight discount when we arrived even though I had the same discount as a student anyways.

We played here on the recommendation of people that work at Massanutten Resort. And we weren't disappointed! Very friendly staff. Course played well and greens were tricky. Everything heads toward the valley. Beautiful club house with lots of golf nostalgia. We're looking forward to returning.

The layout is really nice. Great rolling hills. The course is right and sprayers beware. The course conditions were rough. Grass in the fairways not consistent, the greens had a disease or were burnt out and the bunkers were not maintained. Excuse the geese on the back, of course you know what they do. And they did.

Course was a little bit wet, but heavy rain in the past week was a factor. Some challenges on the holes, but that is what makes it fun.

The course design and setting was great. Agree with the previous review stating the prettiest course in the valley. The issue, the course is not maintained.

Beautiful course in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, about 10 miles roughly east of the center of Harrisonburg, Virginia. I played it recently, in late July 2014. The course was in wonderful shape, and the views are magnificent, and some of the holes are very demanding. Which is OK with me because I am a single digit handicapper. But the design has more than a few issues. On quite a few holes, the cart path is only a few yards off the fairway, and on the other side are ravines or sharp dropoff to a rocky creek. Automatic lost ball if you even just reach the cart path. Because the ball will roll onto the cart path and then into huge trouble. Some examples: anywhere left of the first fairway. Sharp dropff anywhere left of the cart path into a very rocky creek bed. Left of the 2nd hole, cart path on left, and tee shot cannot hit cart path or the ball will very likely bounce into extremely deep and thick rough. 3rd is OK, but the area around the green should be a bit larger. No bailout that I saw. 4th is OK. 5th is sharply uphill tee shot to just short of a deep creek, then you cannot go right on the 2nd shot. Cart path too close to big trouble again. 6th is OK, just subtract two clubs for your approach shot (STEEPLY downhill). 7th is an extremely tough par 3 in which the green sits on top of a very steep hill. Don't be more than a few feet short of the green. 8th and 9th are good par 4s, as is 10th. 11th is an extreme uphill par 5 with the same problem as the 2nd, although it is even more pronounced. Cart path very close to the fairway, with OB immediately left of the cart path. Anyway, you get the idea. Some of the other holes on the back 9 are truly beautiful.
