During the quarantine, the wife and I decided to take up golf. Since then we have been to The Golf Club of Texas many times. As follows will be the usual unbiased review of our experience there. The location is very easy to find, even our first trip out we did not miss the turn off of 211. The parking lot is of good size with a few disabled spots. The biggest issue with the parking lot is the very limited shaded parking, other than that, it is well maintained. The club house is both the pro shop and a restaurant and bar area. It is very nice and well kept, both inside and out. We have not tried the restaurant but others have said that the burgers are very good. We will edit our review if we do eat there at some point. The pro shop has all the basics you could need for a game and a few extras. The staff here is absolutely amazing. They have always been friendly and helpful with any questions we have. The pro shop crew is top notch at all times and the main reason my wife and I decided to become members. After only a few visits they were welcoming us by name, that says a lot about the staff here. The manager can usually be seen around the shop also and will always say hello and make sure we have everything we need. The cart personnel also are very friendly and keep the carts charged and clean. They are taking the extra steps to sanitize them as well. The player assistants also are very friendly and helpful and keep things running smoothly. The grounds crew is very helpful also, on the course, and have answered a question or two that we had while playing. They are also respectful of driving and shots in general. The crew here is part of a wonderful experience. There is a full practice area at the course. The practice range is very reasonably priced for buckets. The practice range does not seem to have distance markers though. There are poles out on the range but no indication of their distance from the boxes. It would be nice to see something like that added. The practice green and the pitching green are as well kept as the course greens, which is great. The course is very well kept and maintained. The grounds crew does a great job to keep everything playable and looking great. Being new to golf, I do not know how challenging the course is overall but the wife and I have a lot of fun and feel challenged here. Talking to some more experienced golfers, they say it can be challenging. There are some shots over water and enough bunkers to keep things interesting.I did give The Golf club of Texas five stars but would have only awarded them 4.5 if able to do so. There are some issues that would cost them the half star. First, very little shaded parking. A few hours in the full sun of a Texas summer after a few hours on the course in the same heat is not good. Second, while they do have a beverage cart I have only seen it out on the course twice. There have been times when I could use a cold drink while out there and had no recourse but to take the time between the 9th and 10th to go to the club house. Third, we have not been able to find any type of distance reference on the practice range. They do have poles but no indication of the distance to them. Even with these small issues, and they are small, my wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed playing and practicing at the course. The staff alone makes the experience so much better.

The golf course is a 3 and the restaurant is a 1, so my overall rating is 2 stars. The staff at the restaurant seems to mostly spend time chatting amongst themselves and ignoring the customers. If you sit outside you will be forgotten once you have ordered, that is if you are lucky enough to be served at all. When you need to order or you need a refill, you will have to walk inside and find your server. The server won't be hard to find though, as they will inevitable be a the bar gossiping with their coworkers. Also, be careful when you pull off of 211 and drive towards the clubhouse. You may need 4x4 because of all of the potholes in the road.

Played it in better shape. Greens were bumpy. Weeds were going everywhere. Otherwise nice layout course.
