Great Resort State Park! The only one of its kind in South Carolina! The Savanah River is beautiful and a nice swimming spot down the bottom of the hill. With clay on the riverside and bottom the water takes its color on the shore. Lovely area to boat and play. There is a park for the kids to play and a pool to keep every type of swimmer happy! Great food prepared and a wonderful overnight stay in the rooms. Our family had an overall great time for the couple nights we stayed.

I made reservations before reading reviews. I don't regret it, but I see why there are complaints. Our lake front camping spot was beautiful, but the bathrooms in the camping area really need help. 2 showers but only one is working, the other has a huge hole in the ground. And working is not a great description. The water randomly turns off. The bathroom could really use sweeping too. As for the camping spots, I ran into the same problem others mentioned and got stuck trying to leave. It does seem like the park is more concerned about the resort and golfing than the campgrounds.

Terry and Arthur, the camp hosts were very helpful and friendly--two of the nicest people we've ever met in all our travels! The campground is beautiful--very clean and well-kept. We enjoyed the golf course and the restaurant. They just opened the pool but we didn't have a chance to use it, but it looked very good.

We stayed in a very pleasant and roomy cabin with decent size kitchen, picnic area outside. There is an on-site restaurant for pick up orders. There is boating and fishing here. Mountain bikers would love the trails. We like hiking-- it was tricky to hike there because there were a lot of trees down and the trails are not well marked. Hickory Knob is 4 miles from Baker Creek State Park. Both are fairly close to the town of McCormick.

We camped here for 2 days. Beautiful, spacious site lakeside. No bugs, which was surprising for mid May. Also did some archery, played 2 rounds of golf, and mountain biked both of their trails. There's a restaurant on site as well serving 3 meals a day. Only knock would be that their tennis courts have no nets and has weeds growing through the concrete. Despite that, well worth the value! Has skeet also. Must make reservations for it and archery as well. One of my favorite state parks in South Carolina.
