It's just ok. Greens and fairways are ok. The rough is pretty rough. The traps and bunkers are a joke. Agree to pull without penalty before you start a round. Lots of rocks. You don't want to get hurt or hurt anyone else. The grounds guys are doing their best but they're on borrowed time since it's going to be houses at some point.

One of the best public layouts around and certainly the most affordable. 800$ for an unlimited membership with a cart is unheard-of! The Superintendent, General Manager, and Staff do a great job of keeping this place in great condition considering the courses status has been in limbo for years. I couldn't be happier with my decision to join this year.

The course itself was decent. Not in the greatest shape, which was evident on the first fairway when my ball hit a dirt patch on the right and bounced hard and far to end up on the left side of the fairway. There were clearly a lot of new golfers out as you hear Fore shouted frequently. It also is a tight course so there were a few occasions of golfers playing from the fairway of a different hole altogether.My biggest gripe was the complete lack of care and process regarding COVID19. While other courses in the area I've played have strict rules about 1 person per cart, masks, and such, this course did not follow any guidelines. The starter sat there with a mask around his neck.Also be aware there is a nearby gun range, so don't expect any calm sounds playing this course. I don't plan on rushing back.

Course is in bad shape, weeds in the fairway..tee boxes are in rough shape, broken and dead trees all over the place, for the price of the round it is not worth the price at all.will not be coming back to this course.

a great place but 6 courses closed in 3 years to do what build houses we don't need remember no open land means its going to be people jamming up the roads and more warming of our earth think about it

I've been going here for a number of years now and always have a good time. I like the layout, the front 9 is more open and the back 9 are more wooded. Always friendly staff and good value. The only thing I do not care for is how almost every hole has 2 kidney shaped bunkers around the green. It's not that I mind the challenge, it's just on almost every hole which is redundant. I recommend playing here.

Played there Saturday,course website says open for another year. Wish someone would just take this course over.This is a great old style course would have got a four to five star rating but due to the wet conditions AKA snow melt only gave it at 3, in Prime season it is a four to five. Always enjoy the layout and the challenge.

Course is still in pretty good condition. Pro shop doesn't have much as far as selections anymore. Guy at the counter wasn't very friendly. They're supposedly closing after this season so I guess that's why service and selection isn't what it used to be.

It is a very mixed bag, this course. There is no driving range and a very dinky little putting green outside the clubhouse. The pro shop/kitchen is super drab, so dont expect much. Far from a 'full-service' facility. Looks old and beat up, which is probably part of the 'charm' here. The staff are usually accomodating, but dont expect bubbly friendly. What makes this course decent is the layout; each hole is unique with the exception of a couple holes on the front which are cut out of the woods. SOme good elevation changes and nice alternating par 3 and 5 make it a sweet challenge for a consistent game. #9 short par 3 over the fountain is a throwaway hole; doesn't really stand up too much. I like playing here 1-2 rounds a year; try to play mornings as the PM groups back up due to slow play. You can also find discounted rates on Teeoff of their website.

An old favorite revisited. Haven't played there in at least 15 years and it's still the same. An affordable course with a bit of a challange to it, back nine is better. We will be back but not wait another 15 years.

Fairways and greens are in good shape.Sand traps full of gravel and rocks, pin placements difficult on very tough greens.

Course is over all in good shape considering a lot of recent rains. Strikingly though I haven't been to this course in over 20 years as I had moved out of the area, and since 1998 nothing has changed in this Clubhouse or snack bar. Very basic amenities available. Some balls & tees, food only hotdogs off the same roller since 1995ish!Beer to go was a plus! Water and soft drinks, Crackers and candy. Don't plan on hanging around or spending much time around this Clubhouse or the snack bar. Nothing here to see so keep moving

Haven't played here in a number of years and heard it was under new mgt. Very pleased with the course. Besides the rain yesterday, the course was in excellent shape. Greens were excellent and very consistent, grounds crew was very respectful of players (shutting down machines for us, etc). If you're considering Locust, I definitely give it a Thumbs up! I like it better than the 2 other local courses that I typically play. The clubhouse from the outside is shows it's age but once inside, it's clean and neat and all of the recent work is apparent. I definitely recommend. Enjoy!

I'm a member. Coarse conditions are always very good, tough well bunkered greens and tight fairways make this not a beginners golf coarse! Slow play at peak times prevent me from giving a five star rating. The coarse needs a Ranger out there at peak times to keep things moving!

Played around Labor Day 2013. Course was in very good shape and we had no issues with slow play (I think my foursome finished in under 4 hours). The greens are challenging and were quite fast the day I played. I'll definitely go back.

I played here with my friends today. There are many sand bunkers close to every green. It was not easy for such a weekend golfer like me. I got the worst memory in #8 green side sand bunker. My thumb was cut by the rake whose plastic rod end was vertically split. It is almost plastic kitchen knife. I could not play well with the bloody thumb. Watch out the dangerous rakes in Locust Valley. I saw more in the second half. Please replace them.

Course in ok conditions. Pace of play was the worst by far of any course I've played this year. Told ranger when he went by and he did nothing to improve it.
