When you pay a premium to be a part of a club, you expect exceptional service, a well-run business, and world class communication. At the Edison Club, you will NOT receive any of those things. The clubs membership brochure makes The Edison Club seem great. Your opinion of the club will shift the second you hit the first tee. Members trash the clubs direction, badmouth the staff and services, and complain about the food. The Superintendent will yell at the greens keepers with members in earshot. Staff of the club often outwardly express their dissatisfaction for the leadership. The Edison Clubs General Manager communication style resembles that of a burly high school football coach who takes his frustrations out on his poorly performing team. He is not professional, courteous, or fit to lead a Golf Club. His financial acumen has not been seen since his tenure. This is evident by their continuously shifting business models, their year over year decline in membership, and their need to alter your membership fees after you have signed your membership agreement. On top of the items above, this is one of the least diverse golf communities I have ever witnessed. If you are a person who values diversity, open mindedness, and culture, this is not the place for you. The board is composed of elderly white members who have been at the club for decades. They are steadfast in their beliefs and incredibly resistant to change. It is one of the reasons this club will fail. The direction of the club to alter the course from 27 holes to 18 and create a Florida resort style community is the nail in the coffin for The Edison Club. Members of the Schenectady and Albany real estate community agree that in the next 3-5 years, the area will face significant challenges selling houses. Which exactly why the club has sold a portion of their land, to build condos. Put plainly, people who are moving to the area, are not moving here for golf. The members of The Edison Club are long time residence. Those with house in the area. Many of which leave in the winter to warmer climates. The clubs decision to reduce the number of holes for members to play while increasing the dues is another reason to stay away. You deserve a club that is financially stable, forward thinking, and provides an experience that will make you smile each time you leave. You will NOT get that at the Edison Club. The club will likely respond to this post. Its probable that the Director of Membership will reach out and attempt to save face by responding to this review. They will know however that the statements above are true. And therefore, are irrefutable or irreparable. If you join The Edison Club, you will experience some, if not all these shortcomings. Take your business elsewhere and you will be wiser for it.

Enjoyed a company brunch here. The staff was wonderful and the food was great.
