I had a family member who worked here for awhile, years ago. I got on the course a few times but never played a round. Feels like a different world up there, complete isolation from the city and neighborhoods. Now that I play regularly I was interested to see what courses are around Abq for Saturday play with my boys. Recently played 18 @ Altos, 4 players, two carts = $166+ (not a great course by any means but convenient and fun for beginners and always packed). Considering I’d have to add another $60 (locals are charged more, wtf!?!?) just to get on myself, not to mention the drive up and behind the mountain from Abq to get there and I don’t even want to think what a burger and a few beers add on to it.. yeah, it’s a no for me dog. This course is truly amazing and I’d love to take my friends up there and have a day but for $900 a round for 4, this isn’t meant for mere mortals or anyone starting out in the game who works for a living. I’m sure a lot of other locals get turned off just seeing that price and don’t look any further. Personally, I don’t understand, wouldn’t you make more $$ w/ a higher volume of players @ a lower rate (10 players/hr @ $100>4 for $900) and making the money in food and beverage/alcohol rather than pricing out the majority of your available client’s in hopes of creating a luxury atmosphere for a clientele that quite honestly doesn’t exist in or around Albuquerque. Los Alamos has the Dr’s and Santa Fe is snowbirds. Golfers want to golf and deals for locals would go a long way to get people actually playing, which was the whole point, not weddings and five plate dinners from out of town chefs. It’s already out of the way from everything else and honestly they nailed elitist vibe they were going for, won’t even think about driving up to check it out. Course will stay beautiful and empty until they realize this isn’t NY, it’s NM, and Sandia isn’t Taos, it’s Abq Plus. Maybe the next owners will understand and people who live here can enjoy it again.

Awesome course with incredible scenery. The best that I have played in NM for sure. The original #4 has an incredible green complex that is about 80 yards long! Numerous tee shots have elevation changes of 40-50 feet. The course is a dramatic, immaculate challenge. While I first visited Paako Ridge in 2014 and the rates were very reasonable ($110/round), new ownership raised the rates slightly. Hopefully, the increased revenue finds its way back into the course to make it even better. Overall: The course is Number 1 in New Mexico for a reason. This is a must play if you have the opportunity.

One of the most beautiful courses in NM. Picturesque views of the natural New Mexican land, well kept greens and a friend staff makes the $200/ person peak season price tag worth a try. Would definitely recommend playing at least once if you get the chance!
