First off this course is in awful shape. Sprinkers? Greens are so slow. Crab grass everywhere. Im not one to fluff my lie but this course did not have one good lie to offer. Upon arrival we were not greeted with a warm hello but a request that we keep our pace of play up or we will be asked to leave the course. Mind you we had yet to tee off at this point. Service was smug and almost seemed to be an ongoing contest who could be meaner to paying customers. 95$ sheesh. Ill be taking my talents and 50$ to Avalon CC. Please dont @ me.

Shore Gate is easily one of the nicest courses near the Jersey shore. Featuring undulating greens and fairways, with a terrific and interesting layout, this course will keep you coming back. Although it is not in eye-popping condition as it had been in the past years, it is still a sight to behold. When it is in top shape, youll feel like you walked into the TV during the PGA tour. Plenty of tee boxes (some very far back) maintain the championship course feel. The risk-reward design presents you with constant gambles, with deep sand traps galore. One hole is half sand trap. Some traps have the good sand, but some look like the old Sand Barrens course. Even though it is a shore course, youll survive without bug spray, and wont get punished by the afternoon bay breeze. Excellent practice facilities also. A MUST play.

I was very disappointed in Shore Gate. I played this course 2 years ago, and it was beautiful, easily the nicest course Ive ever played. I thought Id play one of the premiere courses near the beach once again, but I must say for $70 the course was not well maintained at all compared to two years ago, and the service was terrible. We called to get beer and was given an attitude, and when we were leaving, a man that looked to be rather important was a snobby with us. Overall, very disappointed, wont ever pay $70 + for a round that the service is bad, and the course is not kept up with, like it once was.
