LOVE THE DESIGN BUT 5 HOURS TO PLAY? NO THANKS MANAGEMENT - CHANGE TEE TIMES TO 9 MINUTES MAYBE THAT AND A STARTER WILL HELP

For some reason I'd avoided playing this course over the years. I'm not sure quite why, really, though I don't typically go for courses in housing developments. But the usual courses have been feeling stale lately, so I figured I'd finally give Bear Creek a try today for the first time. What I discovered was one of the most diverse and playable public courses in the St. Louis area. Gary Kern's designs are always fun, yes, but the routing here is one of his best. There are some great risk/reward holes, a variety of terrain, and not a single weak hole on the golf course. Despite my fears, the houses weren't at all obtrusive to the hole corridors. I was shocked and felt a little bit guilty that I'd had such an unwarranted negative impression of this layout. It's simply fantastic from start to finish.Conditions were adequate but not great from tee to green, although they get the benefit of the doubt after this wet spring. The greens rolled well at slightly above average speed.I'll definitely be back to play here again.

Course was in excellent condition, but they should have a cart girl coming around with water and Gatorade. It was very hot and it would be very easy to get heat exhaustion
