The goat track of all goat tracks. Very regrettably spent money to play there in mid-July and it was in awful shape. The layout is horrible and there are blind shots on seemingly every hole. Its a joke. You can play any number of solid courses in the area for basically the same price. You will be upset when you leave. Id give it 0 stars if I could.

I feel the need to provide a little history before getting to the full on review of Fox Run.I quit golf for 15 years and recently picked it back up just shy of a year ago. It has been 20 years since I last played Fox Run. I have been playing Belterra's golf course in Indiana almost exclusively in the last year. I have been telling my buddy who I have been playing golf with over the last year that we should play Fox Run for a real challenge. (DISCLAIMER: Belterra has a harder course/slope rating but my memory told me despite the numbers Fox Run is the more difficult course.) While Belterra maintains their course beautifully the lack of drainage in their bunkers leaves a lot to be desired and are frequently unplayable. My memories of Fox Run were a beautifully maintained course in all aspects especially the bunkers. So I up sold my buddy on the course hard. So we just played yesterday 7/15/2019 and let me just say... What a HUGE disappointment. Fox Run was opened in 1991. I played it about 15 times between 1991 and 1999 and as I indicated previously it was always immaculate. What a difference 20 years makes.I have so many critiques I'm not even sure where to begin.First, its obvious the cart path hasn't been repaved since its opening in '91. Its littered with potholes, erosion, ruts etc... Prepare to have your liver shaken loose on parts of the path. There are several bridges on the course to cross over streams which have also clearly been neglected since the opening in '91. Instead of replacing wooden planks they just keep stacking fresh wood on top older decayed wood as a work around. There has been a drought in the area for the last month or so, so I expected some dry areas. What I saw was either a course without a sprinkler system or one that never gets used. Its obvious everywhere on the course but no where more obvious than the tee boxes. Bring a hammer and stout wooden tees or good luck getting your tee to the depth you desire. If you use plastic tees just forget it.The most concerning thing we saw was 5 greens with what could only be described as a massive infestation of ground hornets. There was a sign on the 17th green, the 5th of the aforementioned greens that said they are treating for the hornets but they are 'non-aggressive' so feel free to ignore them. That's of little comfort when you see a 2-3' sized pack of hornets swarming around and even less comforting when the sign is on the LAST green infested and not the first.Lastly, the bunkers... Good God the bunkers. 90% no longer have sand and are just left to grow weeds. The 10% that has sand I'm certain was the original sand put down in 1991 and has basically settled to concrete.I could go on, but I think I've made my point. What a shame. The only reason I didn't give it a 1 star rating versus the 2 I gave it was a nod to the design of the course, its peaceful surroundings and its difficulty level.I'm not sure if this is a result of funding cut backs in Kenton County, poor course maintenance or a combination of the two. Whatever the case the phrase that comes to mind here is 'Oh how the mighty have fallen'. Fox Run was always the standard by which I measured every course I played. No longer. It had rivals in the area with Lassing Pointe and the Vineyards but none better. Having played Lassing Pointe recently its clear they have managed to maintain their high standards. If you want to play a difficult lay out that somewhat resembles a golf course then its still very good at that. But beyond that, I would steer clear.
