I played the Cal Club this past weekend and felt compelled to write a review. I've played about 25 of the top 100 courses in the world and Cal Club definitely belongs on the list. There are no weaknesses. Interesting landscape, shot variety, strategy, interesting greens, fantastic bunkering, breathtaking views. What really impressed me though was that this is the most friendly club I've ever visited! Members at the bar sparked conversations and were friendly. Even outside on the putting greens members said hello. Having pictures on lockers is unique and demonstrates the cordiality of the club. The staff was also very friendly. I don''t say this lightly: it may be the best club on the planet.
