Employees are great but the Postmaster has to go. I did some digging and I have learned that the postmaster is unfair and disrespectful to the employees while showing another face to the public. Since the new postmaster, Susan, took control of operations three years ago, there has been a high turnover rate. I see mention of the high turnover all the time on Facebook group threads but it is referred to as short staffed. Local newspaper, Google and Facebook searches will show this high turnover concern for the past 3 years, yet no one thought to question why. This turnover has greatly affected customer service and employee morale. I am not saying that the service is crap but can be greatly improved upon. It’s just that for three years there is always someone new training at the counter which does slow operations for a very busy little post office. An employee does not stay long after initial training. Not all employees get the same training despite the position being trained for is the same. Training is supposed to be front counter and back package and mail processing. She picks and chooses who she likes and does not treat employees with respect, dignity or equality. This is discrimination. Furthermore, if an employee contacts their Union rep to file a complaint against Susan, she makes your life a living hell everyday until your have no choice but to quit. Her thoughts of customers first, means holding meetings to berate and call out employees and never offer a thank you for the job they do. I see employees working hard each time I am there and do not see her there supporting the staff. The postmaster is never at the front counter working and has informed her staff that she is not required to work Saturdays while they all are there the other five days and Saturday. She ensures that she only works five days a week while never giving staff a day off except for the required Sunday. It came to light that the postmaster and her good or best friend that was hired, do not engage in even half of the workload on a daily basis leaving the mountain of work to be performed by what is left of the understaffed crew. I found out that the postmaster and her friend spend their day hanging out in her office laughing and making unacceptable comments of the staff. Once Susan decides she no longer likes you as an employee, which she does to 90% of new hires, she will become petty and constantly find ways to make you feel inadequate and unappreciated. Text correspondence between Susan and staff is inappropriate behavior demanding rudely that a sick employee come into work immediately or to speak down to employees. Susan has also been known to call an employees personal cell over and over, numerous times when out sick. She contacts staff late in the evening while they are at home to ask why something is this or that. If no one responds to her texts or calls she will continue relentlessly until you put down your fork and interrupt your family dinner. Despite Susan, the staff has been friendly and helpful.

Our small town Post Office does alright, the mail gets through. Staff are longtime residents of our town and they have been with us through thick and thin. I see long lines at larger Postal offices in other areas and can appreciate the service we have here.
